I received my PhD in French and Francophone Literature from the University of Chicago in 2016. I have been teaching French at the University of Chicago since 2008, and I also became a part-time French instructor at Loyola University Chicago in the fall of 2018. I’m very happy to be joining the Department full-time in the Fall of 2022 to continue to share my passion with my students and to expand my teaching interests!
I have taught a wide range of courses in both institutions: first, second, and third-year French classes, French for research purposes for graduate and undergraduate students, and stand-alone French literature classes for undergraduate students.
By using different types of materials, whether journalistic, cinematographic, literary, or academic, I find that students are challenged in a way that makes language learning more interesting for them and places them in “real situations”. My teaching experiences, combined with my interdisciplinary background – I have degrees in Law and History in addition to Teaching French as a Foreign Language – led me to develop a real passion for building bridges between French and American cultures. I am delighted to have the opportunity to bring together my research and teaching interests and to continue to facilitate engaging classroom conversations for students at the University of Chicago!
